Safe Sailing Evaluation

Before you may use your Community Sailing Membership, you must obtain a Safe Sailing Certification by passing the Safe Sailing Evaluation with at least an 80%. This evaluation is 1 hour long for our c420s and Optis and 1 and a half hours long for our j22. If you are planning on having the full membership with access to all boats, you will take the j22 evaluation and after it is completed, you demonstrate launching and landing a c420. This evaluation tests
your ability to sail safely to ensure proper use of our fleet. Once you take this, the Safe Sailing Certification is valid for 3 years.

Requirements:
– Properly rig and de-rig respective boat and know all required knots.
– Know jargon and terms for respective boat
– Perform basic boat maneuvers safely
– Know proper Sail Position
– Be able to launch and land
